Before WALL-E

Seth Godin has a great post on Pixar’s new movie WALL-E(which I hope to take Grant to see in the next few weeks). Pixar is the rare company that has never put out a bad product – every Pixar movie has been great. Much of that success is due to their commitment to quality and truly “pushing the envelope”. Case in point – the short above. This was Pixar’s first animated short every, which was created in, get this, 1984! That’s right, The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. is an animated short made in 1984 by the Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Project, which would later be spun out as a startup company called Pixar. Although it is technically not a Pixar short, the animation was by John Lasseter, who was working on his first computer animated project and would move on to be a pivotal player at Pixar. This work was so far ahead of its time that it should come as no surprise that Pixar has become a blockbuster-film-factory.
